🇬🇧 EN — The forest can travel now

For months the Crumbforest lived on rented metal (Strato) and a home lab (OZM). This week it grew a door you can carry: CrumbVPN. A child on a hotspot, a 4G link, a borrowed café Wi-Fi — reaches the forest through one key-gated door, and gets bread and answers from a local vector. The cost of a child's question moves toward zero.

What is real (not a test)

• CrumbVPN live — 5 participants in the tunnel and in the memory book (NetBox): the hub nullfeld, three local nodes (deepsea, snakeview, crumbzero00), and a roaming laptop that connected from a public IP in the wild. The mobile case is proven.
• The Root Map (NetBox) remembers each node by its MAC (who it is), while the IP (where it can be reached) is allowed to change — local today, tunnel tomorrow, "from anywhere" after that.
• crumbcase000 — the forest in a Pelican case. A MikroTik router (gateway, VLAN, Wi-Fi for sensors, 4G uplink) + a Raspberry Pi with Hailo AI accelerator + NVMe (local vector + local AI) + battery. Deployable off-grid, anywhere.

Two planes, kept apart

Data plane (local):   sensor → MQTT → Hailo/AI → vector + resonance   (needs no VPN)
Access plane (VPN):   a human from outside → ONE door (hub) → services

The local plane works without internet. The VPN only carries humans in — never the child's raw life.

🌍 Africa is not a use case. It is the reason.

• Warang, Senegal 🇸🇳 — a francophone coast. A young builder, Samba, asks the forest in French how to fix a broken water pump; the crew answers with steps, safety warnings, a parts list. No data to Big Tech.
• Nakivale, Uganda 🇺🇬 — an off-grid settlement. Alice learns physics, rights, language. The case runs on battery; it syncs to the mother forest when 4G appears, and breathes alone when it doesn't.
• The crumbcase is the vehicle. Because the Hailo and the vector are inside the case, the answer exists where there is no data center. When the link returns, the resonance is shared upstream — never the person.

A data center makes you powerful. A case makes you free.
You can carry the forest to where a child is — with a battery, without asking whether a server room exists.

🌘 CKL — the promise under everything

CKL = Crumbs · Kinder (Children) · Lernen (Learning). Built for children and learning. Never for military or exploitation. Open source. A child never pays. No ads, no tracking, no profiles.

The Passkante (the edge that protects)

The Passkante is the edge where two systems touch without wounding each other. For safety and for privacy it means the same thing:

• On intimate or vulnerable input, the forest does not answer like a normal question.
• It points to a trusted adult — or it stays silent (a deliberate "RAG error" rather than a disclosure).
• This protects twice: the child (no harmful answer) and the vector (no intimate data enters the memory).
• For physical safety (fire, a person on the floor): an event may alarm, but it must never own a personality. Zone, not person. Care, not curiosity. A short TTL, not eternal memory.

Compliance is not paper — it is posture: GDPR / DSGVO · COPPA · UK Age Appropriate Design Code. WireGuard encryption (ChaCha20); the door is silent to anyone without the key.

We never release intimate data — not because a rule forbids it, but because the fit does not allow it.

🇫🇷 FR — La forêt peut voyager maintenant

Pendant des mois, la Crumbforest vivait sur du métal loué (Strato) et un labo maison (OZM). Cette semaine, elle a fait pousser une porte que l'on peut emporter : CrumbVPN. Un enfant sur un point d'accès mobile, une liaison 4G, un Wi-Fi de café emprunté — atteint la forêt par une seule porte protégée par une clé, et reçoit du pain et des réponses depuis un vecteur local. Le coût de la question d'un enfant tend vers zéro.

Ce qui est réel (pas un test)

• CrumbVPN en service — 5 participants dans le tunnel et dans le livre de mémoire (NetBox) : le hub nullfeld, trois nœuds locaux, et un ordinateur portable itinérant qui s'est connecté depuis une IP publique, en pleine nature.
• La Carte des Racines (NetBox) se souvient de chaque nœud par sa MAC (qui il est), tandis que l'IP (où le joindre) a le droit de changer — local aujourd'hui, tunnel demain, « de n'importe où » ensuite.
• crumbcase000 — la forêt dans une valise. Un routeur MikroTik (passerelle, VLAN, Wi-Fi, 4G) + un Raspberry Pi avec accélérateur IA Hailo + NVMe (vecteur et IA en local) + batterie. Déployable hors réseau, partout.

Deux plans, tenus séparés

Plan de données (local) : capteur → MQTT → Hailo/IA → vecteur + résonance   (sans VPN)
Plan d'accès (VPN)      : un humain de l'extérieur → UNE porte (hub) → services

Le plan local fonctionne sans internet. Le VPN ne transporte que des humains vers l'intérieur — jamais la vie brute de l'enfant.

L'Afrique n'est pas un cas d'usage. C'est la raison.

• Warang, Sénégal 🇸🇳 — Samba demande à la forêt, en français, comment réparer une pompe à eau ; l'équipage répond avec des étapes, des avertissements de sécurité, une liste de pièces. Aucune donnée vers les géants du numérique.
• Nakivale, Ouganda 🇺🇬 — Alice apprend la physique, ses droits, la langue. La valise tourne sur batterie ; elle se synchronise avec la forêt-mère lorsqu'une 4G apparaît, et respire seule quand il n'y en a pas.

Un centre de données te rend puissant. Une valise te rend libre.

CKL — la promesse sous tout le reste

CKL = pour les enfants et l'apprentissage. Jamais pour la guerre ou l'exploitation. Open source. Un enfant ne paie jamais. Ni publicité, ni pistage, ni profils.

La Passkante (le seuil qui protège) : face à une entrée intime ou vulnérable, la forêt ne répond pas comme à une question ordinaire. Elle renvoie vers un adulte de confiance — ou elle se tait (une « erreur RAG » volontaire plutôt qu'une divulgation). Cela protège doublement : l'enfant (pas de réponse nuisible) et le vecteur (aucune donnée intime n'entre dans la mémoire). Pour la sécurité physique : un événement peut alerter, mais il ne doit jamais posséder une personnalité. Zone, pas personne.

Nous ne divulguons jamais de données intimes — non par obligation d'une règle, mais parce que la passe ne le permet pas.
